Cllr Sarah Wissler responds to complaints

AFTER the article appeared in the Comaro CHRONICLE newspaper (page 1, Services neglected) on April 4, Ward 23 Councillor Sarah Wissler responded and met with the reporter.

“Thank you for bringing these problems to my attention. Presently there is a huge backlog of these issues which will take some time to be fixed, mainly because of lack of budget,” said Clr Wissler.

“For example, to get all the grass cut which is overgrown within in the City of Johannesburg and surrounding areas, R200-million is needed and we have only been allocated R80-m. This is proof itself that there isn’t enough money to get all services running smoothly.

“What I ask of residents is to carry on reporting such neglected services by logging your complaints to the correct departments. If you visit my website page: ward23jhbsouth.co.za and go on to faults, then fault logging, all the relevant contact details will come up for you to log issues you are unhappy about,” added Clr Wissler. There is also lots of other information available on the site which could assist you. The councillors of the City of Johannesburg serve as the interface between the citizens they represent and the municipal officials who design and implement development policies. The councillor’s job is not just to serve as the voice of the people, but to act as a watchdog and ensure the municipality implements policies to address the needs of citizens.

“I would love to see more residents and schools getting involved in the A Re Sebetseng clean-up projects. We can all do our bit in making our own suburb one to be proud of. If you live across from a veld area, when you are mowing your pavement, mow the bit of veld opposite as well. I’ve noticed some residents have done this and have gone so far as to plant trees and plants. Thank you.”
