WATCH: Admiration for Teko Modise at book signing

ADMIRATION: Teko Modise signing one of his fans’ book, with author Nikolaos Kirkinis.

EXCLUSIVE Books Mall of the South held a book signing for The Curse of Teko Modise on February 10.

Author of the book, Nikoloas Kirkinis (24) spoke to the CHRONICLE before Modise arrived. “Teko is a very humble and relaxed guy. I heard him talking on a radio station a while back and he said it was time for his book to be written, so I contacted him. I’m a football journalist and I’ve always been a huge supporter of Kaizer Chiefs,” said Kirkinis. He’s busy now working on his second book.

The book tells of a young Teko who was kicked out of his home, attended school as normal and at night he slept on the streets with other homeless children. As his career peaked, the world seemed full of Teko and young boys all wanted the Teko haircut.

He owned a house in Sandton and drove an Aston Martin. He became a superstar and played in the Soccer World Cup in 2010. Enjoy the Teko Modise story, which is proof that anything is possible.

Modise’s fans arrived at Exclusive Books, bought the book, had it signed and enjoyed light banter with their hero of the soccer world. “Always admired this guy,” said one fan, “and can’t wait to read his story.”
