SASSA says happy festive season with early payments

WITH the South African Social Security Agency’s (Sassa) announcement that social grant payments for December will be made earlier, it comes as good news for Sassa beneficiaries.

This was part of the social services parastatals plea to wish beneficiaries a good Christmas.

In a media statement sent out Sassa said social grant payments will begin on November 28.

Funds will become available for collection at ATMs, Sassa pay points and all other payment channels. Payment at Sassa pay points in the Western Cape will commence on December 1.

SASSA said although payment dates for pay points were printed on beneficiaries’ receipts, it wants to ensure that beneficiaries know they will receive their payments after November 28.

Funds will be available for collection at ATMs and stores until December 22.

The last date of payments at Sassa cash pay points will be December 15.

Cardholders should also take note that the expiry date of their cards has been extended beyond December 2017 and the cards don’t need to be replaced this year.

The minister and deputy minister of social development wish all social grant beneficiaries and their families a peaceful festive season and a prosperous New Year.
