SMASHED: The scene of the accident.

ONE person died and eight others sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical after a collision involving a bakkie and a taxi at Kliprivier Drive and Andries Street in Brakendown late last night (November 3).

ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene and found that the taxi had rolled over on the side of the road and the bakkie was still on the road. Patients were found scattered across the scene. According to ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing Harduth, it is believed that some were ejected from the taxi while others crawled out. Sadly there was nothing that could be done for one person and the man was declared dead.

A man who was critically injured and all other people who sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care. The exact cause of the incident is unknown and authorities were on scene.
